Recording: ‘¿Dónde Está El Baño?’ vocals and percussion

And now, the end is near, and Dónde needs vocals and percussion.

¿Dónde Está El Baño? vocals and percussion: rig run down

Recording

Firstly, I set up my gear in the usual way. In this case, that meant…

Additionally, I popped the pop shield on the mic stand for recording vocals. Also, I’m not sure if you noticed last time, but I’ve taken to placing a blanket opposite my face.

Secondly, I did my admin. In this case, that meant exporting the bounced track with drums, bass, guitars, and ukulele, and importing it into a new project.

Thirdly, I got a level for my vocals, and blitzed through them.

Next, I repeated step two, and removed the pop shield, ready for recording percussion.

Because Dónde… is sung in Spanish, I wanted to add to that by using my maraca and claves for percussion.

Next, I got a level for the maraca. And then I recorded it.

Then, I got a level for the tambourine, and recorded that.

Finally, I got a level for the claves, which was particularly weird. But, I recorded it.

Additionally, I put some handclaps with the guitar solo – I was just feeling it.

Conclusion

In conclusion, recording Dónde… vocals and percussion was all relatively straightforward. Here’s how they sound.
